Sau Bay Divers

Our very own Sau Bay Divers operates a first in class PADI dive operation focused on true client service, ultimate experience and above-all, diving safety.

The experience starts with our specially constructed dive shop that allows for gear checks and maintenance, secure gear storage for our guests, processing, dive lessons and briefings, and sales of a variety of SCUBA accessories.  Our dive shop is located on the waterfront, right next to our restaurant.

Dive Shop of Sau Bay Divers

With Sau Bay divers, your diving experience is led by highly trained, local Fijian PADI-certified instructors and divemasters, who take their time to get to know you, and will ensure that your experience is safe and enjoyable.   We cater from expert to novice divers. If you haven't experienced current diving before, no problem: our staff will take you on dives designed to get you comfortable with higher current environments - so that you can experience the magic of the rainbow reef too!  Our friendly staff take care of everything from gear setup, moving gear to and from the boat, rinsing and preparing for the next dive...so you can spend more time relaxing.

For our guests choosing to rent gear, our dive equipment comprises top of the line Zeagle BCDs, Atomic regulators and Suunto computers. We have a range of different sizes of wetsuits and personal gear.  Our gear is meticulously maintained and routinely replaced when showing signs of wear.  We also always carry a full set of spare gear on dives to ensure that the dive experience is not interrupted.

Sau Bay Divers and Sau Bay Resort & Spa is recognized by PADI as exemplifying the standards that PADI seeks in dive operations globally. Essentially, by conducting the Professional Image Evaluation, we earned a "High Quality Control Stamp", and in October 2023 we received PADI's official certificate.  More information can be found on PADI's website here.

Our Fleet

Our main dive boat, the Sau Diver, is a custom 32-foot aluminum boat specially built for diving.  It can comfortably accommodate 12 divers.  However, Sau Bay Divers routinely takes only small groups of divers ranging from 2 to 6 divers on a typical dive, making for a much more relaxed and private diving experience than you will find with operators on Taveuni island. Equipped with a new 300 HP motor, the Sau Diver will reliably and quickly transport your party to and from the dive sites.  The Sau Diver is also very stable in unfavorable weather conditions, in case the dive gods aren't cooperating!

In 2023, we acquired a second dive and transfer boat.  Capable of taking out 12 divers, the 28-foot Sau Explorer is equipped with brand new twin Suzuki 150 HP engines.   Fast and sleek, the Sau Explorer effortlessly transfers guests to/from Taveuni and to the various dive sites of the Rainbow Reef.

The Sau Bay is our support/tender boat.  It is a 20-foot center-console Penga equipped with a new 60HP motor.

Camera Ready!

For our divers with camera equipment, we recognize the need to have a dedicated area to charge and maintain equipment.  In 2023 we built out a 6-charge station camera room.  Each of the stations are dual-voltage (110V-240V) and include USB and micro-USB ports and five plugs ports.  The room remains locked when not in-use and is under camera surveillance to make sure your equipment is secure.

NITROX

Sau Bay Resort has commissioned a new state-of-the-art Nitroxmaker system, which is currently being constructed by Nuvair.  Starting in April 2024 the resort will have Nitrox available for an additional charge per tank.  IIn addition, you can get your PADI Nitrox certification at the resort while enjoying the diving.  Why Nitrox?  Understand the benefits of Nitrox by reading more.

At Sau Bay, we make sure that the oxygen reading is checked and signed off on a daily log by the diver prior to each dive.  This ensures that our guests are comfortable with the enriched air mixture while ensuring that standard protocols are being followed.
